Micheal Bolton or Brains?

Sherry and I enjoy watching the YouTube videos of singer Dave Barnes. Here is one he posted around Valentines Day, and below, please find our reaction to it.

Roll For Initiative!

utterli-image
Our first game night has come and gone, and I think it would be safe to declare it a success. For our first campaign we're doing some 3rd Edition D&D, for which Sherry half-got-roped-into-half-volunteered to DM.

We didn't get to play any last this time around as we spent the better part of the evening building our characters, which was what we expected to be doing that night. For anyone who's interested, I'm playing a half-elf rogue whom I plan to use largely as a sniper and, if need be, asassain of sorts. I could be useful as a sort of spy, as my skills in moving silently, hiding, listening etc are quite high, but my roll for Charisma was... dismal. So I won't be infiltrating anyones camp in disguise anytime soon. Best to leave me skulking about unseen in the shadows and gather intel that way. The one problem I'm having is naming my little sneak. I wanted to call him Rochester McGillicutty, but the party quickly nipped that mess in the bud, and we spent a good half an hour in a colaborative effort to come up with a name, even going so far as to consult the Wizards of the Coast Random Name Generator. All efforts were to no avail. Fear not, I'll have something suitable selected by next Sunday.

Sherry has spent a fair amount of time the past two nights consulting the Dungeon Masters Guide, making notes and just generally preparing our adventure, and the longer she's at it the more fun she seems to be having. This comes as no surprise to me. There's more than a little bit of storyteller in that girl, and that's what this is. She's crafting a story for us to go through. It's a pretty cool thing to see.
